Titans go Head-to-Head Today in Week 2 of the ESL Guild Wars 2 Pro League

by Joshua Davis on November 30, 2015

Here’s what you can look forward to in week two of the ESL Guild Wars 2 Pro League:

In Europe, all four prequalified teams currently stand 1–0, and unfortunately for two of them, the small undefeated run will come to an end today. Week two kicks off with a clash between giants Orange Logo and Vermillion—both teams hungry for the winningest record and a ticket to the season finals. Later, Rank Fifty Five Dragons will test their mettle against the Civilized Gentlemen, and both teams showed such dominance in week one that this matchup is anyone’s game. Our final matchup of the week will feature two teams that arguably had the worst time in week one. Car Crashed has a lot to prove coming into this week after being outscored by an average of 290 points in a 2–0 sweep by Vermillion. Chaotic Contingency, the opponents of Car Crashed in week two, also faced devastating losses at the hands of Orange Logo in week one, losing by an average of 395 points per game. On the bright side, it’s only week two, and there’s plenty of time for these teams to adapt and turn their story around.

Over in North America, things are slightly less certain. Never Lucky, a prequalified team, took a week-one loss to Final Form, who ran a very peculiar double druid, double chronomancer, and elementalist team composition. Never Lucky has faced some roster changes since the October Go4Cups, and they’re likely suffering from lack of synergy and practice. Speaking of Final Form, Spoookie will be taking them on this week, and it will be interesting to see how Spoookie’s more damage-focused comp will face off against their bruiser/bunker style of team composition, which seems to have no clear answer. The match you’ll definitely want to catch this week in North America is Zero Counterplay vs. Apex Prime. Zero Counterplay was unable to field their full roster last week, forcing them to yield to the Abjured. This introduces an element of unpredictability as we have yet to see Zero play. Their opponent, Apex Prime, is confident coming into the match after dispatching Team PZ in a 2–1 slugfest that easily takes the award for most interesting matchup of week one.
